Season is delighted to present Gerard Dombroski's Inflation, his first solo exhibition at the gallery.
Dombroski is a restless experimenter whose practice traverses the fields of art, design, and architecture. The works in Inflation were produced via the method of 'hydroforming'. The artist created hollow structures by welding together sheets of steel, then used pressuring water to shape them. The resulting pieces bulge and—if knocked—wobble in a comical fashion. Many refer to real-world objects, becoming maximised or shrunken caricatures. They celebrate whimsicality while acknowledging such worrisome phenomena as tipping points, over-blown egos, and economic bubbles.★☆★Gerard Dombroski and Season extend warm thanks to Georgie Malyon of Greenpoint Florist, Ponsonby.
